UPCOMING PROGRAMS, NEWS & EVENTS

FITNESS EQUIPMENT UPDATE: Currently some of our fitness equipment is being re-upholstered. The pads will be ready Wednesday, July 27th. All equipment will be available for use on Thursday, July 28th. We apologize for any inconveniences. Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve our facility for our members.

PROFESSIONAL ROLE MODELS WANTED ... Start your career with the YMCA Afterschool Program. We are currently taking applications for site directors in our Afterschool Program. Must be 21 years of age. Apply today! We are accepting applications until July 31. Applications available at Membership Desk or online.

TAE KWON DO CAMP ... This camp is designed for rising middle school students, July 24-28, 4:00 - 5:00 PM.  Registration available at the Membership Desk or online. 

STRONG COMMUNITIES 5K/8K ... This year we celebrate the 10th year of the 8K and first year of the 5K. The 4th race in the Start It Stanly Race Series is on August 19 at 7:25 AM. Registration available at the Membership Desk, at Vac & Dash, or online.

AFTERSCHOOL ... The Y will offer it's Afterschool program at Aquadale, Badin, Endy, Locust, Richfield, and Stanfield schools. In addition, the following schools will be served at our Pavilion Site in Albemarle: Central, East, and Millingport. Registration is OPEN.  Register before July 31 and pay NO REGISTRATION FEE.  Registration is available at the Membership Desk.  Download Parent Packet and Registration Form to save time!

SWIM LESSONS ... Fall swim lessons will be offered August 14 - October 2.  Registration for members will open on July 24. Non-members can register beginning July 31.

AQUATIC FITNESS CLASSES

COME ON IN ... THE WATER IS FINE!

Adults looking to challenge themselves without stress on their joints or members who just enjoy the water can take advantage of our different water exercise classes. Instructors lead small groups through water aerobics, core strengthening and much more. Gain muscle conditioning and cardiovascular endurance from the aerobic choreography and the resistance of the water. Ideal for all fitness levels & non-swimmers. Water Exercise classes are FREE for Y members!

VIEW OUR AQUATIC FITNESS SCHEDULE >>

AQUATIC CLASSES INCLUDE:  

ABC (Aquatic Body Conditioning):  45 minute cardiovascular workout in the shallow end of the warm pool.  Designed for all levels.

AQUA FLEX AND TONE: A warm water class involving broad movements of arms, legs, and torso.

AquaFIT: A shallow water workout in the warm pool.  Class will incorporate a variety of equipment designed to increase your heart rate and tone muscles.

INSTRUCTOR'S CHOICE:  A water fitness class of the instructor's choice. 

JOINTS IN MOTION: A low impact warm water workout.  Exercises are aimed at improving joint range of motion, reduce joint stiffiness and pain.  Great for beginners, participants with back pain, arthritis, or recovering from surgery.

WATER WAKE UP:  45 minute class of intense aerobic exercise in the deep water of the cool pool.  Flotation belts are used.
