Swim Lessons


Parent-Tot is a class designed to help your 6-36 month old child be comfortable in the water.  The pool is only open to the class participants.  Parents work with their child under the direction of an instructor to learn basic water safety rules and become comfortable in the water.  It is the goal of the class to help your child be able to easily transition into Learn To Swim when turning three years of age.  Registration is required for participation in this class.  Please register at the Membership Desk.


Learn-to-Swim classes are for the beginner level swimmer.  Two age groups are offered for this class:  3-5 year olds and 6-12 year olds.  To progress out of the 3-5 year old class we look for comfort in the water and the ability to make forward progression on their own.  To progress out of the 6-12 year old class, a child must be able to swim the width of the pool on their front and back.  Every child progresses at their own rate and will move into a Progressive Swim Class upon instructor's approval.  Registration is required and class size is limited.  Please register at the Membership Desk.

Progressive Swim Classes

Progressive Swim classes are for children already comfortable and have some swim ability in the water.  If your child is unable to swim and/or is fearful of the water Learn to Swim classes are recommended.  If you are entering the Y Swim Program from a different swim program a swim placement test is required.  There are ten levels of Progressive Swim:


Beginner Swimmer


Can Swim Width of Pool on Front and do Something on back


Can Swim Width of Pool on Front and Back


Can Swim Length of Pool on Front and Width on Back


Can Swim Length of Pool on Front and Back Comfortably with no assistance


Can do Two Laps on Front and Back Crawl and show Competency in Both Strokes

and Rotate Breaths


Can do Three Laps of Front and Back Crawl and do Breast Stroke

Flying Fish

Can do Four Laps of Front and Back Crawl, and can do Breast Stroke, Side Stroke,

Butterfly Kick, Bi-Lateral Breathing, and Flip Turns


Can do Five Laps of Front and Back Crawl with Bi-Lateral Breathing and Flip Turns,

IM, Butterfly, and Over Arm Side Stroke


Can do ALL the above skills and working towards swimming one mile (36 Laps)

Registration is required and spaces are limited in Progressive Swim classes.  Register at the Membership Desk.

Adult Learn-to-SwimWoman with Towel

Adult Learn-to-Swim is a beginner level class held every Monday from 6:30 - 7:30 pm.  The pool is only open to class participants during this time for the comfort of those in the class.  Registration is available at the Membership Desk. 

Swimming 101

An advanced beginner Adult Learn to Swim Class held Wednesday evenings from 5:30 - 6:30 PM.  This class is developed for adults interested in improving their stroke. Registration is available at the Membership Desk.
