EXCITING NEW OUTREACH PROGRAM ANNOUNCED FOR SUMMER - The Stanly County Family YMCA will be providing a NEW outreach program to the Amhurst Community this summer. Read, Feed, and Lead will be offered to children in the Amhurst Community free of charge this summer. The Y will be in the Amhurst Garden daily to provide reading opportunities to the kids, serve lunch, and lead a physical activity/game. Thank you to the Albemarle Rotary Club for sponsoring this program. Volunteer opportunities are available. Contact Kelley Bigger for more information.


NORWOOD SUMMER DAY CAMP ANNOUNCED ... The Y is partnering with the Town of Norwood to offer seven weeks of Half Day Summer Day Camp to be held in Norwood. Participants will be dropped off at the Norwood Elementary School Gym in the morning. On Thursdays, campers will be transported to the Y for swimming and other activities. Lunch and morning snack will be provided daily.  30 spaces available ... register soon at the Y. Information available at the Y and the Town of Norwood.

IN THE WATER

Aquatic Fitness Classes

ABC (Aquatic Body Conditioning):  45 minute cardiovascular workout in the shallow end of the warm pool.  Designed for all levels.

AQUA FLEX AND TONE: A warm water class involving broad movements of arms, legs, and torso.

aquaFIT: A shallow water workout in the warm pool.  Class will incorporate a variety of equipment designed to increase your heart rate and tone muscles.

BAT (Body Aquatic Toning):  45 minute class of light aerobic activity for beginners.  NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PARTICIPANTS WITH SEVERE ARTHRITIS

INSTRUCTOR'S CHOICE:  A water fitness class of the instructor's choice. 

JOINTS IN MOTION: A low impact warm water workout.  Exercises are aimed at improving joint range of motion, reduce joint stiffiness and pain.  Great for beginners, participants with back pain, arthritis, or recovering from surgery.

WATER POWER HOUR:  A shallow water class in the cool pool.  Dumbells are used for toning.

WATER WAKE UP:  45 minute class of intense aerobic exercise in the deep water of the cool pool.  Flotation belts are used.
